  • Jan. 1st, 2009 at 12:46 AM

Goodbye 2008.....
Welcome 2009!

I pray for peace and love.
health and wealth.
progress and prosperity.
for my family.
friends, and the world.

thanks for going through 2008 with me.
hold on tight...as 2009 will be a turbulent ride.

My A to Z of 2008.

Acquaintances

Felt blessed to have great friends in life.

I thank God for them to have accommodated me in their busy life.

May all friendships continue to blossom with time.

Breast Cancer

Mum was diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer in April and since then she has been fighting it with us(her family) supporting her emotionally. My mum, she’s a fighter and I believe, with the proper treatment that she’s having, she would be able to emerge victorious in this struggle.

Cupcakes

I made dad cupcakes and arrange it to make a 51 to celebrate his 51st birthday. It was my first solo attempt at baking and the result were not bad…making it again this week as a request from my younger bro who will be serving his NS soon!

Day Outs

There were many Day Outs with great company of friends. Not one shall I forget as each moment with these great friends are cherished and treasured. Some of the memorable day out…The Orchard Holiday Get Together with my Army Buddies, the dinners and lunches with Diana, Nisah, Aishah, Suz, Army Buddies and Conrad.

Economy

The global economy was in peril this year..

The price of oil rose steeply on the first half of the year..

And fell to an all time low on the second half.

World Stock Exchanges suffered.

Bankruptcy of large corporations

Electricity tariffs at a staggering rate, prompting my family to take some measures to ensure the monthly bill is manageable.

Folks

My folks had to face with the most difficult problem in their life that is my mum’s breast cancer. My dad’s job becomes insecure as his company continue to downscale with falling demand for their services. Although downtrodden with a serious disease, my mummy continues to stay a lively life, as she had lived it all this while.

God’s Grace

I can’t thank God enough for watching over our family and bestowing tranquil and peace in our hearts in face of difficult times. Alhamdulillah, we are strong as ever as a family and may God continues to shower us with His Grace in 2009.

Hari Raya

Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Aidiladha were different this year as we celebrated it without our beloved grandfather who departed last year. However, this year the festivals were celebrated with cute nieces and nephews who add joy and laughter to the occasions.

Iffah Qashrina

Celebrated her first birthday in October, Iffah continues to grow and now running around my house and singing cute songs, adding colour to life.

Juggle

Another year of juggling job tuition and studies. I think I am getting good at it…though I need to seriously prioritize more with studies.

Khadijah

My little sister who is all grown up. She participated in her school’s Malay dance and she really takes pride in everything that she do. Can be irritating at times but love her for helping me around at home.

Life

Though I hope life is so much easier…it doesn’t always turn out the way we want it to be. However I thank God and appreciate all His Providence for this year and hope he directs me to His path and shields me from harms of the world.

Malay Language and Cultural Society

I finally participated in NTU/NIE MLCS or PERBAYU and was glad I did.

Many activities to be held in 2009 and I hope I can contribute to the best of my ability.

New

Several things were new this year.

New friends: Amin,Syimah,Afiah,Hariz,Saf,Juju,Hanis,Azzimah,Azizah,Sufyan,Apriani,Noor,Joel,Najib,Naim,Daphne,K.L,Charlie Tan, Alfie, Greg, Jimmy Tang, Hafizah.

New Handphone: Samsung Soul

New Colleagues: Tom, Florence, Bianca and Pauline

New Tutees: Harvin and Krishan

Operation

My mum had a major surgery to operate on the tumor that was growing on her left breast. It took a whopping 10 hours to remove and reconstruct and Alhamdulillah, the operation site now has healed fully.

Phuket

Best holiday trip ever in 2008, period.

Quit

Dad quitted smoking for 2 years now and he is proud to be cigarette free, what more with the extended ban on smoking at several other places including playground, and entrance and exits of shopping malls etc.

Two of my colleagues at work call it quits after serving the company for 10 dedicated years. They felt perhaps it’s time to venture out to other lines. To Mr Ang and Kak Suriana, all the best!

Radiotherapy

My mum had to go through many sessions of Radiotherapy to control the spread of the cancerous cells and ensure that the leftover cancer cells are eliminated with the therapies.

Siblings

Abdul Rahman and Rahim showed great improvements in their result this year. They are all growing up quickly with Rahim showing great potential to be the next Fernando Torres.

Suhaimi my 3rd Brother, finished with his A Levels and will be serving his country in the Police Force this January.

Khaliq my elder brother is still working with Seagate and supported me a lot in my studies and some of the bills. Together with Kak Aishah,my sister in law, they pamper their daughter, Iffah.

Tuition

I had two new tutees, Harvin and Krishan.

Although both of them drove me crazy with their attitude problems and silly antiques, they manage to score well for their exams.

The economic turmoil now drove the family into some problems that they had to temporarily halt my services, and I truly understand that. Times are hard now.

University

My university grades weren’t that good in the first half of the year as I was doing subjects that I didn’t like. However the first semester of my second year had pushed my GPA higher thanks to proper planning and great subjects.

The friends at university made life as a student more bearable and fun and without them I think I would become nuts by now with all the pressure and stress from studies.

Volatile

Volatile political environment in Malaysia, Palestine and Israel as well North Korea drew my attention as I continue to keep myself updated with the latest developments in these countries. I had always been interested in politics and perhaps one day..

I might be part of it.

Weddings

Some of my good friends from Millennia Institute got married in 2008 and to them, I pray that their marriage grows stronger with time as be blessed with Allah S.W.T guidance and providence, Insya Allah

Amongst friends(friend’s siblings) who tied the knot: Rashidah, Shahidah, Zulaikha and Hairul’s sister.

X-Ray

That mammogram or an x-ray of the breast in April changed our lives forever..

Yunita and Zzzz

Finally I met Yunita after all this year. She went to The United States to study and return back to Indonesia before coming to Singapore and now…

She is a PR here.

I’m still wondering of all places in the world she’s been…why make Singapore a home?

Zzzz, yes I realize that ive not been sleeping a lot in 2008. most of the days, my earliest sleeping time would be on average…2am.

I think this will not change till until perhaps after I graduated.

--------------
I hope this new year will bring about more changes to my life and pray that mummy regain her health.amin.
